Iowa City Laundromat: Clean Laundry on Hwy 1 West

Have been going here for a few years now and would recommend if you’re in the area. Facility is well maintained and there are free dryers on Wednesday.

Nice clean place to do laundry with special prices

Big industrial washers $8.00 Dryers $1.00 but add time before the dryer stops. Free drying on Wednesdays.

Nice clean laundromat with lots of washers and dryers.
Wednesdays the dryers are free if you use the Dexter Pay app to pay. We had about 5 loads of laundry and used 2 of the 4x load washers that were $6 each. So we paid $12 for all of our laundry. Very pleased.

I have a VERY large comforter measuring 132x120. I took it to a laundromat that stated they had xl machines for comforters. I was very disappointed because it came out with dry spots and not clean. I brought my comforter to Clean Laundry in IC and used their xl machine and it got it clean! The capacity of these machines is great!

Cleanest laundromat I have ever seen. Not a speck of dirt anywhere.

Easy parking, bathroom available and it was very clean. Chairs available to sit and wait for machines to do their work. Change and token machine working.

I accidentally added too many sheets to the largest washer and it didn’t completely wring out at the end. So I called the owners, at almost 11pm, and they credited the machine to rerinse and rewring it out. Great service & great free dryer Wednesday’s too!

Great place to do laundry

This place is an amazing laundromat! It’s always clean, they have great deals, and their employees are always so helpful and kind. They go above and beyond to help you!

My washer broke days before I had to leave on a work trip! I called clean laundry and they were able to get my laundry done with a quick turnaround. I was super impressed with their service when I picked up my clothes, it was folded better than when i do it and i was able to easily pack straight into my suitcase. I might just start taking all my washing to them!

Great location. Many machines. I thought the cost was reasonable. I loved the dryers. I had two king sized blankets in one and would've been able to put a third one in. I spent two dollars on a low heat to dry the blankets. Would definitely go back to clean but not on a weekend. It was too busy.

Monday: Not so busy even after 5pm. I met the owner today and he was super nice.

Clean and everything seems to be working, but A/C is completely out so it’s hotter in the building than outside. This was the second Clean Laundry I drove to tonight based on ratings, and it is clean and appreciate the soft water. But it was $25 to wash and dry in the heat and the 1$ token bill slot won’t take any of my bills, so had to feed dozens of quarters. 😂

Laundry takes me about 1.5 hours on average. It’s kind of expensive but worth it bc of the equipment and it’s bug free, unlike other laundromats who have a history of bugs. I enjoy the cleanliness over everything and how people remove their clothes immediately from the machines, which I learned is a huge pet peeve. I also enjoy that different areas are sanitized often including the machines bc after Covid, I get paranoid about germs on surfaces and things left behind in machines that we can’t see. Until I can afford private in unit laundry, I think this place is the next best alternative that gives me a piece of mind in many aspects.

Well here we are 2025, July and notice again posted, rates are raised to wash and dry. Post below was last year. So tell me why do you feel you need to keep raising prices. You are making a killing!!! Huge profit,

Well they aren't open 24 hours anymore. And they raised washing prices within the year.

Absurd prices

Wow, place has gone downhill! Used to be very clean but as of March 2026 is absolutely filthy, I've never seen a dirtier laundromat! Gross, recommend elsewhere until something improves.

This location is filthy. Caked on dirt that looks like it has been there for months. The dispensers were absolutely dirty. The Edgewood Road location is very very clean. Dog hair in the washing machine. Highly disappointed. I left. If I could post the dirt from the wipe I used to try and clean it I would.

Used to be good to go here but they close at 11 pm now. I literally live my life at night time. Horrible changes.

It's pretty ridiculous that this Iowa city location now is only a 5am -11pm location. I'm really having trouble understanding why as it's well lit and the location is typically pretty clean. Money can't be the issue as there is no labor for staff which is odd that a business that is literally for people washing clothes requires VERY little attention as I have seen most people clean up after themselves and what little there is to clean doesn't require closure. I'll have to go back to laundromainia (that is 24 hours) and give them my money since this location apparently needs a ton of labor for upkeep. Also it is currently 11:20pm on 7/21 and it's interesting that the building is still open to customers to do their laundry so you're also falsely advertising that you're closing. .5 out of 10 for accurate advertising and ridiculous hours as A LOT of people work late and have odd hours. Do better it doesn't cost much to run/operate a Laundromat.
